Welcome to the Spanish Course Beginners 4!
This course includes 7 lessons to be completed over 10 weeks.
In each lesson you will find:
-
An explanatory summary in PDF format.
-
A link to Quizlet to help you memorise and recall vocabulary and concepts more easily.
-
Other online resources.
To get the most benefit from this course:
-
Learning a language is not like learning a history lesson that you can memorise in a short time; it’s more like learning how to drive. You need to acquire knowledge through regular practice — the more you practise, the more you will improve your skills.
-
Don’t compare yourself with others, but with your own progress. Everyone is unique and has strengths in different areas. Some babies start speaking or walking in a few months, others take three years — but in the end, they all do it. The only way to fail is by giving up.
-
Don’t see learning as a tedious process of studying and memorising, but as something practical. When you realise how useful it is to ask someone ¿Cómo te llamas?, it will motivate you far more than trying to memorise endless lists of vocabulary and grammar without purpose.
-
Be curious! This relates to the previous point. You’re learning because you want to understand and communicate. Don’t just do your homework because it’s part of the course — try to understand sentences you hear. If you hear a Spanish phrase in a movie, look up the meaning, listen again, read short sentences or words from news articles or blogs in Spanish about topics you enjoy, etc.
-
Practise, practise, and practise! This is the only way. Don’t be afraid to speak — making mistakes is part of the process.
-
Enjoy the process. Learning a language is a long-term goal.
If you need a dictionary, I recommend WordReference — you can access it online or download the free app. Remember that, just like in English, one Spanish word can have several meanings. When you look up a word, don’t just take the first option; try to find the meaning that best fits the context.
